I started deleting items on my task list - this is significant because I have been using the same system for about 15 years. In looking back at the receipts - I have come to the realization that it may not be the best process for some projects; some high quantity, fast paced, multi-level work stuff - yes. Some slower paced, writing projects with self-imposed deadlines and long lead times for research - no, probably not.
Model Packs
Last night, I sat down at my desk with Survivor s23, a glass of red wine and Procreate and just started to draw - I’ve been on this “model kick” lately. (Hell, I’m always on a model kick, but whatchagonnado?) Tryna lock the looks of some of my OCs - which at time feels very Sisyphean but happiness is tight character design imo.
Cart Before the Horse
I recently made some good momentum on a couple of projects but then - as usual - life gets in the way and I completely fall off. I don’t make resolutions but my goal is to not let that keep happening. I do love to sit down and just “draw something” but, when you have larger creative ambitions that can feel a little unfulfilling so I’ve been dialing everything back to the idea. If I want to spend some time drawing a character design - fine. But I’ll get farther plotting out a comic page or sketching a storyboard as they are significantly more important to completing a project than drawing one random character.
